Breathing Blue
2025
This project was created during my internship at Rednote for the company’s in-house editorial team. I am responsible for producing the promotional video for their eighth magazine issue, Breathing Blue.
The video combines After Effects animation and AI-generated sand animation, using a posterized frame rate to achieve a stop-motion effect.
1st Pass Design
I started with three thumbnails to present three continuous scenes, then developed the 1st pass styleframes in After Effects. The beach scene was created using GPT-4o.

2nd Pass Design
After discussing with the team, I realized the 1st pass design was too complex, so I simplified it to two scenes. I also regenerated a new beach image with more details to enhance realism. At this stage, the magazine cover was updated, and some shots were replaced with the new cover.

Asset
All assets in this project were sourced from the magazine.
To achieve a more wave-like texture, I used GPT-4o to expand and transform flat textures into dynamic, wave-like surfaces.

Ai test
Creating the animation of sand being brushed away was the trickiest part. I tried many AI tools but none were fully satisfying, as I wanted it to have a stop-motion feel. Some generated videos had too much motion blur, while others made the sand look unrealistic.

After extensive testing and prompt refinement, I finally achieved a more fitting result. Using posterized time, along with frame-by-frame color grading, I was able to create the desired effect.
Ai icons (Krea)
For some internal projects, I used the AI tool Krea to create a set of cute clay-style icons. These icons added a playful and handcrafted touch to the visuals.
